Transport

Vehicles fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) have been in use in the UK since the early 1990s, and over 400 are on the roads of the UK today. We are confident that the economic and environmental case for running gas vehicles will cause these numbers to rise, bringing the UK more in line with global uptake, which exceeds 6.5 million vehicles. While the public refueling infrastructure required for widespread consumer use is not yet available, gas vehicles are ideal for commercial vehicles operating according to a ‘back-to-base’ system.

TransportLegislation such as the renewable transport fuel obligation (RTFO) will encourage increased use of cleaner fuels, and gas-powered vehicles will play an important role in this process, so numbers are expected to grow.

Operators of commercial fleets can achieve substantial savings on the cost of fuel by using cnLBM in these vehicles. Doing so will also help them comply with environmental regulation.
